Need help with making my photos look better!

Post by Jared »

Alright, I need some help! Lately, I've been rejected so many times, I've lost count, it feels like I don't know how to edit anymore. Please help!
Any tips to make my photo quality increase would be very helpful, as some photos i look at just make mine look like garbage!
Also, I really need help with these deep blue skies, I can't find a way to get rid of the grain without making it blotchy.

What were the rejection reasons on these, Jared? Taking a quick look, it looks like the whites are overexposed - how does the histograms look on these photos? What camera settings are you using? A little more info can help us help you!

These haven't been through screening yet, Moose...Jared just needs some pre-screening advice.

Jared - after quickly looking through them, I do think the exposure should be brought back a little bit on some of them, like Moose mentioned. The Air Jamaica looks to have a bit of a green tint, so the Red tint should probably be increased a bit. What software do you have to work with (PS, LR, noise reduction software, etc.), and can you list off your basic post-processing steps? For instance:
  1. Open image
  2. Noise reduction
  3. Resize to 1200px
  4. etc.

I'm using PS6 with Imagonic Noiseware and I'm beginning to Use lightroom5. I'll probably edit them tomorrow, gonna take a nice long nap after a tiring friday at school!

I guess if I had seen that the forum category was "Pre-Screening" I might have figured that out. :?

You are forgiven, Moose

Jared, at what point are you running your noise reduction? You should do it at full size, then resize. If you're already doing that, you should try selective-sharpening just the aircraft, and don't sharpen the sky. Then save as a 100% quality JPG.
