Frankfurt Airport opens new observation deck

Post by Cary »

Frankfurt Airport has opened a new plane spotting deck, with what looks to be a great view of Runway 25R and its taxiway. Here is a press release, translated to English. Nice to see airports (at least in Europe) still catering to aviation fans and not limiting things in the name of security.

Apparently in Europe this hobby isn't a complete sausagefest.

Hi guys,

this is my first "official" post. Actually Thiago invited me to join this forum. My name is Julien, I am from Frankfurt and a few people might know me or my photos from a.net (name JK Photography).

No, these are no real female spotters, they are aiport staff working for Fraport (aiport operator). I am around the airport quite often and just like on other places you hardly see female spotters around. Not to talk of 20 year old, good looking girls :-)

To the observation deck: The location was there before. It used to be an inoffical sand mound, but with exactly the same views, ever since the new runway opened 4 years a go. So not a huge improvement for us spotters, but to be fair I agree with Cary, nice that any airport actually does anything for spotters and generally it is pretty spotter-friendly over here.

Cheers,
Julien
