Airliners.net Lost E-mails

Post by Cary »

Apparently, not only have screening e-mails not been getting through on A.net for the past week, but any e-mails sent through the "Contact photographer" forms are getting lost, too. And with the amount of time it takes Demand Media to do things, who knows when it will be fixed  Of course, with my luck, I've probably had one or two "we'd like to use your photo" e-mails that I'll never see :problem:

Hmmm I wonder if there is any evidence of unfairly targeting non-screeners....

They posted a message about this in the photo forum:

There is currently an issue with the generation of screening result emails that also affects the generation of appeal result emails.

At this time there is not a confirmed timeline for a fix. In the mean time, screening will continue, however appeals will not be processed until the email issue is resolved.

They forgot to mention that it also affects "contact the photographer" form, which is major. I could care less about the screening e-mails, since those details can be worked out by looking in the Photographer's Corner.

And they have suspended the appeals screening now. So I guess the Heads can now focus on helping out in the forum photography feedback section  Still not sure why it takes longer than a day to fix an issue with that site.

Well, I think A.net is a low priority for Demand Media IT, unless it immediately impacts their revenue. If it were a problem with no ads displaying on the site, they'd have it fixed ASAP.

That's how it goes for most sites after they are purchased by profit-driven companies. And history has shown that that's how those sites become ghost towns.

Looks like there's been some progress on the e-mail issue:
http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forum ... 386373/#18
Just to provide an update. We received word that a fix has been released but it does not appear to be holding as all servers are not generating emails. Some are though we're not too sure how many people are receiving emails. We've been testing and have all the necessary feedback for the developers to continue with the fix once the week starts in SoCal.
Paul was nice enough to send me a test e-mail through the "Contact Photographer" link, which came through. Hopefully everything gets resolved soon, as I've been putting off some better uploads until things are fixed.

Looks like it might be happening again. A photo rejected at 9AM and the email came across at at 2:30PM. I had another one accepted sometime today, which uploaded successfully but none of the email have yet to come across.

I was wondering why I just got an e-mail notification for a screening e-mail that was from 3pm. :problem:

Just went to the A.net forums, and this sounds good:
Hi Paul --
It's been doing it again. I come to this site and I am logged in as random people. This time I was logged in as "joseramirez777", who is apparently a photographer.

This is bizarre and strange. I am able to see other people's email addresses and profile information. I've been at this site around 14 years and nothing like this has ever happened, and now I'm being logged in as different people when I come back to the site.

Thanks in advance for any help.
