MMMX - 2020/11/21

Made a trip last month to MEX that was largely a bust due to weather. This time I got 1.5 days of good light and 1.5 of bad light. But, the pandemic has brought some interesting movements. Only photo for now. TUI 787 preighter. Came in from Frankfurt under an X3 (TUI Germany) flight number and left ...

Re: MMMX - Dec 2019

Awesome shot of the Cargolux! I've been having a bit of an issue with lens/body selection ever since I switched to Nikon. Used to have the Canon 100-400 IS II with a 1.3x crop 1D Mark IV, but now my crop body is 1.5x and my long telephoto zoom is the 200-500mm (I've read multiple reports that it's ...

Good until 11AM or so, then it's backlit. Can't shoot anywhere else without getting yeeted off by the police as "you can go to the overlook and take pictures there".

KCVG - 10/2019

Made a trip to Ohio back in October to tie some loose ends I left 4 years ago when I moved out of the US and got the chance to spend a day in Cincinnati with a friend. Obligatory trip to see Prime Air. https://cdn.jetphotos.com/200/5/54179_1575213549_tb.jpg https://cdn.jetphotos.com/200/6/24585_1575...

MMMX - Dec 2019

Made a quick weekend trip to MEX to see Emirates' first passenger flight to Mexico. That ended up being a total bust as the plane was backlit and taxied in a way that the properly lit shots were heat hazed. I hope they enjoyed the victory lap past the Aeromexico hangars, had they not done that, they...

Re: New Aer Lingus livery

Branding companies love dreaming up these vivid descriptions more than actually doing real work and creating designs that speak for themselves. You can thank English professors for that. "What did the Marlin symbolize in The Old Man And The Sea? What is the significance of using a Marlin?"...

I don't know if I saw this photo or not, but it looks like they do rectify their mistakes sometimes.

MMMX - 2018-12

Made a spotting trip to MEX last week. I flew in on Friday and spent a few hours at La Casa de La Aviacion (formerly La Casa de Juan Juan). Unfortunately the runways are backlit from this spot in December, the sun only crosses the centerline about 45 mins before sunset. https://farm5.staticflickr.co...

Re: What photo did you have rejected today?

Unfortunately it seems like going by histogram alone doesn't work anymore. I can see the shadows lacking detail, but if we're going by pure feel and not histogram, then why not just VSCO the hell out of it.

This reminds me so much of that famous short letter that was written by "Trump's secretary" back in 92 and published in some NYC newspaper.

If you're sick of seeing American Eagle ERJ-145s, here's something different. Yes, it's quite obvious they wanted to spend the least amount of money in repainting it. https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/8939856 In other news, AA is dropping both Lodge of the Four Seasons (Trans States -yes that's where...

Re: KCLT - Ongoing Thread

I'm quite surprised to see that the 145th AW transitioned entirely out of the C-130, given that they were one of a few squadrons with MAFFS capability, and pretty sure the only one East of the Mississippi. 146th AW (Port Hueneme / Channel Islands ANGB), 302nd AW (Petersen AFB) and 153rd AW (Cheyenne...

Re: KCLT - Ongoing Thread

Nice Moose, but you left out the all-important answer to whether or not LH Lady was present  She's always there! In almost 6 years of spotting down here, I think there have been two times I was at the overlook when LH came in that I didn't see her. Wow. Wonder what would happen with her if LH ...
